Dude inside had that ‘I’m so cool’ look on his face as he nailed the rev limiter. I’m sure the thought his car sounded cool. But if you take the muffler off of your Civic, it will most certainly not sound cool. You’ll be driving a Kazoo.

i drove a mufflerless civic for years, but it was a designed exhaust system, not just the stock system with thr muffler rusted off. i loved how it sounded

My neighbor has a Sentra SE-R with a big 3 inch exhaust. Its funny how bad it sounds.

A kazoo. Never heard that one before... devastatingly accurate; I’m gonna steal that one.

When I got my XV10 Camry from my sister it had a broken catalytic converter; the front flange had sheared off, so the exhaust system effectively ended at the back of the downpipe. I drove it like that from her house to mine so I could get the cat replaced. It ran like shit, and it sounded like shit — bbrrwwaaaaaaaaaahhh.
Bonus, the old cat was hollowed out, which explained why it had failed the emissions test during the last inspection.
